A manufacturing routing defines the process steps a product goes through in its production process. In addition to the bill of materials, the manufacturing routing includes the machines on which the product is produced, the production rates associated with a given product and machine combination, and the material, labor, and overhead requirements associated with a given product being produced a certain way. With E21’s built-in manufacturing routing software, manufacturers can define an infinite number of manufacturing routings per product, each with unique minimum and maximum production run and batch sizes, unique production rates, and unique labor and overhead cost requirements.

How are manufacturing routings used in E21 ERP?

Manufacturing routings are used as key data points with E21’s integrated ERP MRP software. Through the planning process, E21 analyzes product demand along with considerations for machine availability and capacity constraints for each product and machine to generate a tentative production schedule for each production facility.
