The E21 ERP system supports a variety of picking methodologies to suit the needs of manufacturers and distributors across multiple industries. From single-order, paper-based picking to multi-order directed picking, E21 delivers scalable warehouse order picking software functionality to adapt to changing order patterns and customer demographics as needed.

The system supports single and multi-order picking, cart picking, zone picking, wave picking, pick by route, and pick queue processing. For improved data accuracy and integrity, all picking operations can be performed with RF and barcode scanning devices.

Automated directed picking and workload balancing

With the E21 ERP configuration manager and a robust rules engine, organizations can exercise complete control over picking processes with flexible picking rules and selection criteria.

As part of E21’s paperless warehouse capabilities, organizations can leverage directed picking functionality, allowing the system to automatically assign picking tasks to users based on order, weight, cube tolerances, and user zone assignments.

Furthermore, warehouse managers can exercise control over the picking queue and escalate picking tasks based on order and shipping priority updates. These directed picking rules can then coincide with directed packing rules in which the system can automatically direct the user to pre-defined packing or shipping staging locations.

Tying the picking process with EDI

E21’s integrated EDI software functionality enables picking operations to be tied directly to the shipping process for the automatic generation of GS1 serial shipping container codes (SSCC) and container labels based on the products being picked and the “cartons” into which they were placed during the picking process. These container IDs are subsequently sent via the EDI ASN using E21’s available EDI VAN services.

Out-of-the-box rate shopping and carrier integrations

The E21 ERP warehouse management system includes direct integrations to FedEx, UPS, and ShipStation for real-time rate shopping during order entry or shipping, allowing users to select the most cost-effective shipping option. Once shipped, all shipment tracking information is available directly within the E21 system.

Moreover, integrations with FedEx, UPS, and Google Maps can be leveraged for address validation to ensure products are delivered to the correct address. These integrations can also be leveraged with the E21 ERP e-commerce solution to allow for customer carrier and rate selection, along with the online review of order and shipment tracking information.
