Leveraging license plates for streamlined scanning operations

The E21 ERP system supports using pallet IDs, or license plates, throughout the system’s warehouse management, inventory management, and manufacturing processes. License plates can identify single-product or mixed-product pallets in standard or random-pack quantities.

The system also supports infinite-level nested license plates, which are license plates within license plates. Using E21’s integrated RF and barcode-enabled ERP warehouse management system, pallet IDs can be generated at the time of putaway or at any time as part of a pallet building process.

A single scan of the pallet ID captures all products, lot numbers, and quantities on a given license plate, allowing warehouse users to transact with a single scan rather than having to perform multiple scans for each product and lot combination.

Additional license plating applications

In addition to being used as pallet IDs, license plates can be used throughout the E21 system to identify remaining quantities in a given container. Whether it is tracking how much material remains in a specific 55-gallon drum or the individual weight of a steel coil, license plate IDs can be leveraged to uniquely identify a particular unit in inventory and draw quantities from that unit in inventory without having to rely on serial numbers or creating unique lot numbers for each unit. These license plates can be allocated in part or whole during a work order or sales order allocation process.
