What is a supplier approval program?

A supplier approval program defines the criteria with which vendors are authorized to sell their goods and services to a company. Depending on the industry vertical, certain government or other regulatory bodies, such as the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program, may require more elaborate supplier approval programs to be in place. When more rigorous, in-depth approvals are needed, individual product approvals can exist at the supplier, manufacturer, factory, and product levels. At each level, unique classifications and approval categories can be defined and marked as required. Once a given supplier is approved, expiration dates can be set to establish the term of the approval at the supplier, manufacturer, factory, and product levels.

These documents are subsequently attached directly to vendor and product records in the E21 system, simplifying and streamlining the vendor approval process.
